From Clicks to Progress: Rumi’s Digital Journey

Rumi was born in a small village where the connection between people and nature was still very strong. Technology hadn’t yet made its way into the daily lives of the villagers, but Rumi was different. From a young age, she was fascinated by technology. After finishing her schoolwork each day, she would sit at her father’s old computer, eager to learn and understand how technology could change the world around her.

As Rumi grew older, she got admitted to a university and moved to Dhaka. Amidst the bustling city lights, she realized how technology was opening up new opportunities for the youth of Bangladesh. Rumi pursued engineering, learning new coding languages, and working with artificial intelligence. However, she was driven by one thought—using her knowledge to help the people in her village, not just to advance her own career.

One day, Rumi decided to find a way to make life easier for the people in her village. She left the bright streets of Dhaka and returned home. Using her savings, she set up a small digital center in her village. Here, she began teaching the children how to use computers, introducing them to the vast world of the Internet. At first, not many people paid attention to her efforts, but gradually, the villagers began to see how Rumi’s initiative could bring real change to their lives.

Rumi realized that technology wasn’t just for city dwellers; it could be a powerful tool for rural communities as well. She developed a mobile app for the women in her village, allowing them to sell their handmade products online. This simple app empowered the women, giving them financial independence and opening up new possibilities in their lives.

Rumi’s small initiative soon grew larger. Many of the children she taught went on to start their own ventures in different parts of the country. They weren’t just working for themselves; they were contributing to the sustainable development of the nation.

On International Youth Day 2024, Rumi was awarded the country’s top young innovator prize. Her digital journey became an inspiration not only for her village but for the entire nation. Rumi proved that with the right use of technology, the youth can drive the country forward, from clicks to progress.
